源自阿拉伯語sifr。（像英語中其他的數(shù)學(xué)術(shù)語一樣，zero最終來自阿拉伯語。它的遠(yuǎn)祖是阿拉伯語sifr“空”，空了就是沒有，沒有就是零，屬于形容詞的名詞單詞用法。阿拉伯語sifr“空”→轉(zhuǎn)換成中世紀(jì)拉丁語zephirum，從發(fā)音上不難看出，這里s-z,i-e,f-ph分別對應(yīng)，r成了ir，-um為后綴，意大利語就是zero了，法語為zéro，意大利語中o是后綴，英語則借自法語）

1.spring強(qiáng)調(diào)經(jīng)過一段時間或準(zhǔn)備后突然出現(xiàn)。
2.arise強(qiáng)調(diào)產(chǎn)生的事實(shí)，暗示從無到有，也指某事物導(dǎo)致的結(jié)果。
例如：I think there?s a storm arising gradually.我看風(fēng)暴即將來臨。

例如：His mistake proceeded from his ignorance of it.他的錯誤是出于他對那件事的無知。

7.stem指合乎自然規(guī)律地產(chǎn)生，也指在某人或某事物的影響下產(chǎn)生或從屬于某人或某物發(fā)展。
例如：We can stem great pleasure from our studies.我們可以從讀書研究中獲得極大的樂趣。
He stemmed his enthusiasm for literature from his father.他對文學(xué)的愛好是受他父親的影響。
arise from,originate from,result from這三個短語意思相近。其區(qū)別是：
result from強(qiáng)調(diào)“結(jié)果”，arise from側(cè)重“發(fā)生”，originate from側(cè)重說明“來源出處”。
例如：The nation?s troubles result from the government?s stupidity.政府的愚蠢造成了國家的動蕩不安。
Development arises from the contradictions inside a thing.事物的發(fā)展起因于內(nèi)部的矛盾。
